Merlin

Allegedly buried at Drumelzier, near Broughton. Merlin in his last days was said to have wandered in Tweedsmuir, forlorn and mad, frightening those who still believed he had magic powers until eventually they stoned him to death. Thomas the Rhymer mentions Merlin in one of his prophecies.

During the discussion regarding the drawings for these boxes a little bit of the Merlin story got slightly lost in translation and the first drawing was of a merlin (i.e. the bird) but it was so beautiful we decided to have Merlin with a merlin in the image!
